Guess what I'm onto now?
Thursday, August 17, 2006//

Hey again, I know it's been a long time since I last updated. i'm like that, sorry. You know this blogskin is based pathetically on Witch Hunter Robin right? Right now I feel like changing it to a Hatake Kakashi theme.

I love Kakashi sensei!! *_* starry eyes

Yeah I know I'm always going off and falling in love with anime characters, but you know, at least I'm not deluding myself into thinking they will come alive and talk to me. Unlike someone I know. ^_^ hint hint sf.

And because I want to make a kakashi background I need Photoshop. And do I have Photoshop? NO! I DON'T !
It's 400++ bleeding bucks for goodness' sake. And they call that student price!

Maybe the government should think of subsidising the cost in order to boost creativity among students. I don't know.

Anyway, for the first time in history we get to do something really interesting for Lang Arts. It's a 4 or 5 chapter story that centres around a main theme, with a reappearing metaphor that is consistently found throughout all 4 chapters. Each group is made up of 4 to 6 people, and each member of a group writes one chapter for that group's story. My group has 4 people altogether, and we chose to do a story based on Sylvia Plath. It's really interesting. I went to the library and got a huge stack of books on her. I was really enthusiastic about it. We started the project about 2 weeks ago, and it's due tomorrow. Enthusiasm doesn't equal quality though. I hope we get good marks. Then I'll be really ^_^.

Oh by the way people are always saying I look like a cat when I smile. ^_^ When people say that I get really happy. I love cats.

I'm also thinking of cutting my hair anime-style. or something close to it. I don't really think an anime hairstyle will look good in real-life on real me though. Our hair flies around, so yep.

bye gotta rush for anime.

damn tired

argh world cup hangovers...

I can live without sleep for quite a considerable amount of time but today I am totally BEAT. Work is out of the question. At least I managed to finish reading the Chinese essays zheng laoshi gave us.

oh yah I'm submitting my Marshall Cavendish essay for the competition. I don't really have high hopes for it but nevermind. anw my mind isn't working properly at the moment.

After reading shu feng's blog i decided it was time to update my blog. Her blog is really nice go see it at my links section.

ZZZ

Most people don't think I am the sort of person who plays Maple Story but yes, I am. My mage is currently level 28. I think I'll be a cleric. I know i know there's an overpopulation of clerics, but if being a cleric wasn't good why would there be so many people wanting to be one?

Besides, holy symbol and bless look awesome. Not to mention the dragon you get to summon at preist level. Im just slightly worried about where im going to get my magic rock and summoning rock from. magic rock doesn't pose much of a problem: my brother has one. its damn expensive to get a summoning rock though.

I think Im getting lazier and lazier as the days go by. I used to love studying. Paper and pens = great. Now I'd rather laze around. Prefably sitting in front of the computer. I have to buck up for the EOYs (AGAIN).

Life sucks when exams are looming.

Im looking forward to the december holidays and its only the 3rd week of term 3.

AH well.

Okay to do list:

  1. devote at least 1 hour every day to hardcore studying. 1 hour because its not easy to have 3rd lang and training and reach home around 7pm every day.
  2. Read one Chinese san wen every day.
  3. Write dairy entries in chinese.
  4. FOCUS ON THE JOB AT HAND AND DO IT! and maybe then i can play maple and study well.
Four things shouldn't be hard. Its just four.

I think if I type anymore my eyes and my brain will fry. not that they aren't already.

sabbaticals =)

Wednesday, May 24, 2006//

Sabbaticals = no stress!

That's true even if my sabbatical happens to be Advanced Life Science. I love the practicals. They're really cool. You know, all the micropipettes and stuff. And the vortex! :DD It's so cute!
It's like a weighing scale, except it doesn't weigh stuff and it has a rubber mat where the weigher would be on a weighing scale. You can set the mode to 'touch' where the vortex will vibrate when you press down on the mat. Vortexes are used to mix solutions, by the way.

Other than the practicals, in which we also get to use latex gloves that dentists use (! they smell of dentist. wrinkles nose.), we have sessions in the computer labs. That's when we learn how to search for coding sequences using Blast. You can do a nucleotide search or protein search or get the website to translate a DNA sequence for you. We were also introduced to composite search engines (all for biotech stuff only, though) like Pubmed which is very useful for doing research papers, as it has over 16 million medical journals which we can use for lit reviews. It'll be good if there was such a website for IH.

Btw, I still have no idea what's going on with my group's IH project. The proposal has been written and rewritten a total of 4 times and I seriously don't know if we are ever going to start on it. We'll probably fail it anyway, seeing as how we can't even get pass the first stage.

ARGHH.

Ok let's talk about more interesting stuff.

I'm going to Krabi in Thailand next week! On Wed morning at 4. We'll be taking Tiger airlines. It's a budget airline. I know what you're thinking. Budget airline? Yuck. Ok, maybe that's not what you're thinking but whatever. Anyway I'm actually really looking forward to it. I can't wait! It's my first time taking a budget airline. I'm not crazy, by the way. I really want to go see what the budget terminal and waiting area is like. It'll be useful experience for me when I go backpacking in the future.

We're going to Krabi to rebuild an eco-trail. It'll help with the tourist economy which has been seriously hit by the tsunami. (Krabi's on the west coast of Thailand but it's quite safe.) Got to mix cement, dig holes in the ground, avoid tree leeches (I never knew there were tree leeches. Ew.), slap on cement, give up on using the proper instruments and use my hands instead... I did that last time and got wrinkles on my hands. Still, it works.

And avoid more tree leeches. I'm considering bringing along my volleyball long socks. I don't want them to get dirty, though. Not easy to wash off..

We'll also be working with some Thai students over at Krabi, and the BORDER POLICE! Cool, isn't it? (We can get to them to carry the heavy things up the slopes... cackle cackle) I hope they don't give us too warm a welcome. We don't have much to offer them. We were told that the media might come. I really hope that was just a warning and nothing more. If it turns out to be true...well, at least everyone in Thailand will know what I look like! (And how badly I stutter in front of the camera. Ok, just joking.)

Mixed feelings

Wednesday, April 05, 2006//

I'm very happy. Pleased with myself, in fact. I was fiddling around with the template and I managed to come up with more things for the blog. There'll be more files hosted in the future; some of my writings.

That's one side. The other side, well, let's just say I was in a terrible mood after maths today. Irritated with the teacher (I won't say who) and irritated by the heat. Eek. The heat was terrible. At least it was for me. I really wanted to punch something (the math teacher would have been a perfect candidate).

That was then. After I stepped (more like flopped) into my mum's air-conditioned car I felt slightly better. I ranted about the teacher all the way home, but that might just have been a side effect of the heat.

It's not as if I have no reason to feel the way I do about the matter.

me

Tuesday, April 04, 2006//

New blog = new introductions.

I am a Singaporean. A girl, too. I am 15, that is, as of the start of March. I live in a world of dreams and my friends are sometimes exasperated by that. They've gotten used to it so it doesn't bother me. I am evil. (`_')

I live for books and manga and fanfiction and movies (but they must be good!). It'd be great if someone could just lock me up in a tower with nothing but a piano, some music pieces, a stack of paper and some pens so I can be forced to write stories and practise on the piano. I have that little perseverence. I get distracted very easily and am very aware of the fact. (Thank you! Thank you! *Bows*) If you don't believe me, take a look at what I like: astronomy, lectures, thick books, pens, music, adventure, camping, reading, writing(on a whim), volleyball, notes, japanese, physics, literature, history (although my humanities aren't that good)....and this isn't all.

When I read in Harry Potter and the HBP that Hermione liked fresh parchment, I thought, hmm, so do I. I love paper. Notebooks, foolscap, stacks of freshly-cut paper, I love them all. I don't know why either. I 'm a little weird.

Class today was sleepy. But then it almost always is. I slept almost throughout the Chinese lesson. After that I must have recovered from lack of sleep, I guess. Anyway, I was mostly awake during Japanese.

Okay, more about me. I strongly believe in NO ANIMAL ABUSE. There are two cats which I love very very much living at my grandma's house and if anything happens to them I will howl. We actually had 3 cats, until the youngest one was knocked down by a car. I can't totally blame the driver for it because Ang Bi(the kitten's name, hokkien for Red Cat) was not entirely sane, I think. We think he dashed out from the side of the road just as the car was going past. But what really got to me was the driver not even getting out of the car to apologise. She only came out after my mum asked her to. And she didn't look sorry at all. I could forgive her for not getting out the car, but not feeling sorry? It's a life, whether or not you like cats. Or animals. A life just as important as yours. I surprised myself by crying. That doesn't usually happen in my daily life.

By the way, my friend is vegeterian. I think she's very determined, because none of her family is vegeterian and if it were me I wouldn't be able to take the strain of not eating meat at all. I am against animal abuse but I think, being naturally omnivorous, we shouldn't deprive ourselves of meat.

Well, that's my personal opinion. You are entitled to yours.

I am going to start an "Ongoing projects" page and another page on my writings. Hope it makes me write harder!

Oh yes. I am going to OB Sabah for the Sec 3 EOY programme. I could go to New Zealand on the adventure programme (I would love to, actually) but $3500 is really too steep. I have my morals and wasting that much of my parent's money on myself is not one of them.

Look forward to the next post.

I've updated!

Monday, April 03, 2006//

Note: The post before this belongs to the newly updated blog. The others below belong to the old abandoned blog. (If you can call it that way...)

Well, this time I'm serious. I'll use proper language and try my best to update everyday. I just finished adding the tag-board and editing the about me part. if you want me to link you please tag and tell me.

It's 1.05 am now. I'm quite happy, actually. I have a new computer and a new resolution (to try earning money for myself) and my new blog is up! I just want to tweak a few little things here and there.

I think I'll add a Full Metal Alchemist background to the tag-board if I can figure out how to.

Night.

15 years old already! yeah (but I don't want to grow up either)
I am a SINGAPOREAN.

STUFF 'BOUT ME

I have not always been a great eater, but I think I'm getting greedier (i.e. stealing food from my friends)

I'm lame and blur.

I sleep during class (a result of watching 11pm anime)

I am a serious fan of The Lord of the Rings but I very sadly do not own any souvenirs from the exhibition. I'm no expert on the book by Tolkien either, although I greatly admire him and his work.

My favourite subject at the moment is Physics, although I'm a little depressed about my schoolwork now.

I love anime.

I'm looking for a part-time job. If you have any good suggestions, help me out here.

And manga.

Warning: I am notorious for abandoning my blogs. I'll try not to with this (revived, if you must know) blog.

Favourite book: Harry Potter (you see this phrase all the time) . LOTR (I love the descriptions) . His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman) . Changeling: An Immortal Tale . Faerie Tale . BASICALLY, I JUST LOVE FANTASY IN GENERAL . Oh, and Coalescent by Stephen Baxter.

Love me, love my blog.

Favourite authors: Tolkien . JK Rowling. Philip Pullman . Frances Gordon. Raymond E. Feist . I think Stephen Baxter is great but I've only read one of his works.

More stuff about my many sorrows at the end of the page.
